Thai rice price rises, Vietnamese rice price remains stable

Rice export prices of Thailand and Pakistan increased by 2-5 USD per ton for 3 main types of rice exported on the world market.

According to the Vietnam Food Association, after adjusting the price up by 2 USD per ton, on March 25, Thailand’s 5% broken rice exported to the world market cost 445 USD per ton; 25% broken rice is priced at 434 USD per ton after an increase of 3 USD per ton; and 100% broken rice increased by 3 USD per ton, selling at 413 USD per ton.

Pakistan’s export rice prices also increased by 2-5 USD per ton for all three types of rice. Specifically, 5% broken rice increased by 5 USD per ton, sold at 378 USD per ton; 25% broken and 100% broken rice shared the same increase of 2 USD per ton, exported at 362 USD per ton (25% broken) and 363 USD per ton (100% broken).

On May 25, Vietnam’s export price of 5% broken rice was 418 USD per ton, 25% broken rice was 398 USD per ton and 100% broken rice was 373 USD per ton.

Indian rice was also stable at 338 USD per ton (5% broken rice) and 323 USD per ton (both 25% broken and 100% broken rice).

The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast for rice exports in 2022 is optimistic. In addition to traditional markets, this year, rice exports to Europe are forecasted to increase sharply on the impact of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA)./.
