According to statistics of Amazon Global Selling, there are 5 categories in which Vietnamese sellers are operating very effectively, which are: Household appliances; kitchen products; clothing fashion; health care and personal care products; and home repair tools and small home gadgets.

An Amazon representative said that Vietnam’s unique advantage is products from Vietnam that are environmentally friendly, have a unique design and are different from products of other countries.

Products of major Vietnamese brands such as Minh Long pottery, Trung Nguyen coffee or other products such as helmets, 3D cards, and cashew nuts have all been successfully sold on Amazon’s platform.

However, in fact, Vietnamese goods still face many barriers in complying with standards and regulations, such as export regulations or documents and procedures. Brand protection is also a challenging issue for Vietnamese businesses.

Regarding e-commerce, according to Amazon Global Selling, Vietnam’s e-commerce scale is valued at 3 billion USD but only accounts for 1% of export revenue. This shows that the e-commerce sector has a lot of room for development.

According to statistics of Amazon Global Selling, within 12 months (from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021), nearly 7.2 million products of Vietnamese small and medium enterprises (SMEs) were sold to Amazon customers around the world, an increase of 34% compared to the same period of 2019.

The number of Vietnamese SMEs selling through Amazon stores around the world surpassing 100,000 USD, 500,000 USD and 1 million USD increased by more than 18%, 53% and 40% respectively after only 1 year.

Amazon estimates that Vietnam’s cross-border e-commerce revenue will reach 11 billion USD by 2026./.
