In the last weeks of April, Vietnam will send 28 seafood businesses, including 9 pangasius exporters, to Seafood Expo Global, scheduled from April 26-28 in Spain, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

As the world’s largest seafood trade event, Seafood Expo Global is expected to attract tens of thousands of buyers, suppliers, media and other seafood professionals from hundreds of countries.
This is an opportunity for pangasius businesses to directly meet customers from countries around the world and the EU after the interruption of seafood trade.
Spain is also the leading country in Europe in terms of production, consumption, import and export of frozen seafood. This is also the gateway and “big fish market” connecting many markets in this area.
In the first quarter of 2022, Vietnam’s pangasius export value to Spain increased by 67.5%, reaching nearly 4.9 million USD. This is the 4th largest export market in the EU for Vietnamese pangasius businesses. During the period, about 20 Vietnamese pangasius enterprises exported their product to this market.
Spain is the fishing center of Europe, a big market in this area, so trade activities are very busy. Currently, importers of white-meat fish from Spain and the EU are facing difficulties due to inflation, rising prices of seafood and food.
The supply of Alaska pollock (Cod) from Russia is deficient. Therefore, Vietnamese pangasius businesses are forecast to have more orders at the Global Seafood Fair in Barcelona./.
