Peter Gillam and his wife, Jayne Orviss, the 49th and 30th COVID-19 cases detected in Vietnam, were both treated at the Hue National Hospital.

In their letter of thanks sent to the hospital health professional, they showed their admiration for Vietnam’s coping with COVID-19.

“We talk all the time of the wonderful care we received from the health staff,” they said in their letter. “We have returned home to a lockdown situation and daily shocking news of deaths in our major cities. Compare that with the remarkable way Vietnam has coped with the COVID-19 crisis, truly amazing.”

Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Head of the Thua Thien Hue provincial Department of Tourism, said he kept regular contact with Ms Jayne Orviss and her husband. “After returning home, they sent best regards to the provincial travel officers who cared for them during their time in Hue,” he said.

Apart from Ms Jayne Orviss and her husband, the Hue National Hospital successfully treated two other foreigners, the 31st and 33rd cases reported in Vietnam. All are now in stable health condition./.
