Lao media highlights 75th anniversary of Vietnamese National Day

In the past few days, Lao media such as Pasaxon Newspaper, Pathetlao Daily, Laophattana Daily News, Vientiane Times, Socio-Economic News, Lao National Radio, Lao National Television and online newspapers delivered many news items on the 75th anniversary of the August Revolution and the Vietnamese National Day (September 2).

Lao media emphasizes protection and respect of Laos-Vietnam special relationship

On September 3, the front page of Pasaxon Newspaper, the organ of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, published an editorial entitled "Laos - Vietnam relations will never fade".

According to the editorial, the relationship between Laos and Vietnam, two neighboring countries that have had a traditional relationship since ancient times,  has become an invaluable asset of the two peoples and will never fade.

The editorial said in recent years, each year from 200 to 400 delegations at all levels of the two countries visited each other. Recently, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, high-ranking leaders of the two countries visited and worked with each other, including the visit to Laos by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; and the visit to Vietnam by Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.

In terms of economic cooperation, since 1989, Vietnam has invested 413 projects in Laos and has now become the third largest investment country in Laos; and Vietnam always helps Laos develop infrastructure.

The two countries have always put priority to cooperation in education and human resource development. Each year, the Vietnamese Government grants thousands of scholarships to Lao officials and students to study in Vietnam, and there are currently more than 16,000 Lao cadres and students studying in Vietnam.

Major Lao newspapers also reported on the solemn meeting held by the Central Committee of the Lao Revolutionary People's Committee, the Lao National Assembly, the Lao Government, the Lao Front for National Construction, the Lao-Vietnam Friendship Association, the Vientiane Party Committee and authority and the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Vietnamese August Revolution and National Day (September 2) in Vientiane.

In her speech at the meeting, Ms. Pany Yathotou, Politburo member and Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly, on behalf of the Lao Party, Government and people, congratulated Vietnam on its achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; expressed the deep and sincere gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their great, valuable, timely and effective support for the Lao struggle for national liberation in the past as well as the current national protection and development; confirming that the Lao Party, State and people would do their best together with the Vietnamese Party, State and people to maintain and develop the great friendship and special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam. 

On September 2, the front pages of a number of newspapers such as Pasaxon Newspaper and Pathetlao Daily published photos and speeches by Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Vietnamese National Day.

In his speech, he noted Vietnam’s comprehensive achievements over the past 75 years since President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence.

Regarding the relationship between Vietnam and Laos, he asserted that Vietnam always attaches great importance to and prioritizes the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos. 

In addition, the events relating to the anniversary were continuously published by the Lao media for many days./.
