The article stated that the year 2022 is a year of great significance for Laos and Vietnam as they celebrate the Year of Friendship and Solidarity, and mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, so that the younger generations understand the special relationship between the two countries.

At the 44th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on bilateral cooperation between Laos and Vietnam 2022, the two sides highly appreciated the results of organizing the implementation of the cooperation agreement in 2021, which has made many achievements in aspects such as political-diplomatic and defense-security, and education and training cooperation, with 14,000 Lao students in Vietnam.

Regarding the direction of the 2022 cooperation plan, the two sides agreed to continue implementing the contents of the joint statement and agreement between the senior leaders of the two countries; to continue close cooperation in maintaining political stability, national defense-security, social order and safety of each country; to build the Laos-Vietnam border into a border of peace, stability, cooperation and comprehensive development; and to support each other in regional and international forums. The two sides strive to increase bilateral trade turnover by 10-15% over the previous year; continue to implement the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of transport and transport, cooperation in the development of power projects in Laos, and connection of the power system, purchase and sale of electricity; and continue to strengthen cooperation and create favorable conditions for cooperation in trade, investment, education and human resources development of the two countries and cooperation in the fields of potential of the two sides.

Previously, on May 3, the Pathetlao Daily newspaper published an article "Lao-Vietnamese relations bring practical benefits in the defense and construction of the country". The article stated that the strong relationship between Laos and Vietnam is formed from the history of national defense and construction; the people of the two countries, especially people in the border areas, have lived together and helped each other in daily life, especially when natural disasters occur. The two countries have always maintained a friendly and close relationship.

The article affirmed that the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam was laid by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and laid down by generations of leaders, revolutionary soldiers and people of the two countries cultivated under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, becoming an invaluable asset of the two peoples, a common law of development of the two countries on the road to prosperous development, bringing a prosperous and happy life to the people.

During the national liberation struggle, the two countries stood side by side to struggle, and united to help each other fight a common enemy, gain national independence, and liberate the country. Entering the period of building a peaceful country, moving to the socialist regime, special relations and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Party, the two countries have signed treaties and cooperation agreements affirming the special spirit of solidarity, cooperating, supporting and helping each other in the process of building and protecting the territorial integrity of each country.

The 21st century is the period when the two countries strengthen their special solidarity, comprehensive and extensive cooperation on the basis of important achievements in many aspects; achievements from economic, cultural, scientific-technical cooperation. The cooperations between localities have contributed to promoting the movement of construction, development, regional and international integration of each country./.
