Pathet Lao, a printed publication of the Lao News Agency, published an article about the Laos-Vietnam alliance in struggle, asserting that during the period of struggle against French colonialist and US imperialist rule and aggression, the two countries joined forces to fight against a common enemy. Vietnamese volunteer soldiers stood shoulder to shoulder with the Lao armed forces, contributing to bringing the two countries' resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism to a glorious victory.

The article also quoted President Ho Chi Minh's words of appreciation for the special relationship and fighting solidarity between the Party, army and people of the two countries, as saying that helping the people of Laos meant helping Vietnam itself. President Kaysone Phomvihane also once assessed, “In the history of the world revolution, there have been many clear examples of the noble international spirit of the proletariat, but nowhere and never has there been special, long-term and comprehensive solidarity and alliance in struggle as between Vietnam - Laos."
