According to the magazine, the pagoda is located on a small peninsula on the East side of West Lake, and its is regarded as the most ancient pagoda in Hanoi at more than 1,500 years old.

Tran Quoc is designed as a blooming lotus. The pagoda was the centre of Buddhism in Thang Long imperial city (the former name of Hanoi) during the Ly Dynasty (1009-1225) and the Tran Dynasty (1225-1400).

Along with the bold design, the selected pagodas in the list are also impressive for their sheer size, said Daily Mail.

Some other pagodas ranked on the list included Toji Pagoda (Japan), Shwedagon Paya (Myanmar), Gyeongbokgung Palace (the Republic of Korea), Global Vipassana (India), and Thambuddhei Paya (Myanmar)./.
