According to Dr. Kidong Park, WHO's global goal is to vaccinate at least 10% of the world's population by September 2021, 40% by the end of 2021, and 70% by mid-2022, which he said are the milestones needed to reach to end the pandemic.

Noting that a lot of countries, not only Vietnam, are facing vaccine shortages, he stressed WHO understood that the Vietnamese Government is working day and night to provide enough vaccines for the residents.

Dr. Kidong Park also highly appreciated each staff member and the management team who worked hard on the unprecedented campaign. WHO also recommends prioritizing vaccination for healthcare workers, and those at risk of severe illness and death, such as the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions.

At the same time, Vietnam needs to step up vaccination activities in all localities to achieve the Government’s goal, as well as WHO recommendations./.
