According to Colonel Bui Quang Luan, Head of the district police, his agency has mobilised all forces and materials, and worked with border stations at localities to launch a campaign to repress crime and social evils as well as law violations.
In particular, the agency has prepared plans to deal with any possible situations happening during the election, especially cases relating to the schemes and activities of hostile forces and riots, manifestations of lack of democracy, law violating activities and those that violate election and people’s rights.
The police has also worked with the election committees at the district and communal levels to master the time for the election process, and re-check the candidates’ biographies to detect any persons who do not meet adequate political standard.
Regular patrols have been held to protect places where lists of voters and candidates are posted and where voting boxes are placed, in order to prevent any possible acts of sabotage.
To make the election a success, the police have closely collaborated with unions and political and social organization to disseminate information about the election, encouraging the public to realise their rights and responsibilities in elections./.
