Hanoi strives to reduce poor households by 1,339 by year-end

From now until the end of the year, Hanoi will continue to focus on organizing the review of poor and near-poor households; strive to fulfill the target of the poverty reduction plan in 2022, which aims to reduce the number of poor households by 20% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to 1,339 poor households.

According to the new poverty line of Hanoi, applied early this year, poor and near-poor people are those who have an income of VND2 million each per month or less in rural areas and VND2.5 million each per month or less in urban areas.

The criteria for determining the new poverty line in Hanoi are much higher than in the previous period and higher than the national standard.

According to the new standard, at the beginning of 2022, Hanoi had 3,612 poor households, equaling 0.16%; and 30,176 near-poor households, equivalent to 1.38% of the total number of households.

From now until the end of the year, Hanoi will continue to focus on organizing the review of poor and near-poor households; and strive to fulfill the target of the poverty reduction plan in 2022, which aims to reduce the number of poor households by 20% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to 1,339 poor households.

It also aims to reduce the number of poor households by 25-30% annually; striving that by the end of 2025, Hanoi will basically have no poor households.

The total funding for the implementation of policies to support poverty reduction in the period of 2022 - 2025 has been approved at VND1.587 trillion./.
