Nearly VND770 billion mobilized to help over one million disadvantaged people

The 2022 humanitarian month in May received attention and participation from diverse organizations, individuals and businesses, mobilizing the largest amount of money ever, at VND770 billion, thus giving support to over one million vulnerable people.

According to the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC), the organizer of the event, this year was the first time the State President worked directly with the VRC to carry out the month. It also received attention of the Party Central Committee Commission on Mass Mobilization and Party Committees and authorities at all levels, as 54 out of 63 provincial and city party committees issued documents directing the implementation of humanitarian month locally.

Record community-based resources have been collected over the past 5 years, aiming to give life jackets, first aid bags, national flags, houses, livelihoods and knowledge of law and first aid support to 192,000 poor fishermen; and give nutrition support to one million poor and disabled children.

Initiated since 2018, the event has mobilized over VND2.2 trillion, assisting the lives of over 4.3 million poor and disadvantaged people, creating a strong humanitarian movement across the country./.
