Notice 321/TB-VPCP conveyed the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the meeting on import and production of vaccines and drugs to treat COVID-19, stating that currently, Vietnam has basically controlled COVID-19 nationwide and turned to a safe, flexible adaptation strategy. According to professional forecasts, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop very complicatedly, and the factual prevention and control in Vietnam and international experience show that vaccination is one of the fundamental and decisive solutions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The consistent view of the Vietnamese Party and State is to produce a vaccine against COVID-19 as soon as possible, but it must ensure scientific, safe and effective processes.
The Ministry of Health shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with relevant agencies and units in, urgently reviewing and completing institutions and legal corridors, and supplementing necessary mechanisms and policies to support and promote production of domestic vaccines, biological products, equipment and drugs to treat COVID-19.
Researchers, technology transfers, and producers of vaccines, biological products, equipment and drugs to treat COVID-19 must also be fair in providing complete, accurate, timely, objective and truthful information, all for the health and lives of the people, the community, for the honor of safe and effective research, technology transfer, production of vaccines, drugs and biological products.
Relevant agencies were also requested to complete a plan to buy and use vaccines against COVID-19, in which there is an official proposal on importation, and, buying domestically produced vaccines; additional injection plan, the selection of vaccines and the quantity of vaccines to be purchased for vaccination of children under 18 years old./.
