Trump to meet NATO leaders in Europe in May

On February 5th, the White House said President Donald Trump agreed to join a meeting of leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) in Europe in May.

According to the White House, in a phone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the two leaders “discussed how to encourage all NATO allies to meet their defence spending commitments” and “the potential for a peaceful resolution of the conflict along the Ukrainian border."

Earlier, on February 4th, Donald Trump held a phone call with Italian President Paolo Gentiloni.

In the call, Mr. Trump reiterated the U.S. commitment to NATO and emphasized the importance of all NATO allies sharing the monetary burden of defence spending./.
