On May 9th, the Hanoi Fatherland Front worked with Phuc Tho district Election Committee and People’s Committee to hold a meeting between voters and five candidates for deputies to the 14th NA.

The five candidates include Nguyen Van Duoc, senior lieutenant-general and President of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association; Hoang Trung Hai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Ngo Duy Hieu, member of the Hanoi Party Executive Committee and Secretary of the Phuc Tho district Party Committee; Tran Danh Loi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Hanoi Union of Science and Technology Associations; and Bach To Uyen, President of the Ba Trai communal Women’s Union from Ba Vi district.
In their action plans, the candidates pledged to fight wrong and hostile viewpoints, struggle against corruption, be close to the people and listen to their ideas, increase the quality of the program on building new style rural areas, provide safe water and environmental hygiene, and better the management of land and other resources.
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai committed that he would be a loyal and trusted representative for the people’s will, aspiration and rights of mastery; help to reduce Hanoi’s poverty rate to 1.2% by 2020, and encourage people to join the fight against negative phenomena in society.
Candidate Tran Danh Loi said he would focus on developing policies for the application of science and technology into reality, and those for addressing traffic congestion in Hanoi.
Meanwhile, according to candidate Bach To Uyen, she would pay attention to making policies for women and vocational training for rural labourers./.
