Nguyen Phu Trong re-elected Party General Secretary

At the closing plenum of the 12th National Party Congress on January 28th, on behalf of the Congress Presidium, Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Commission on Popularization and Education, announced the results of the first plenum of the 12th PCC.

Accordingly, the first plenum of the 12th PCC elected the Politburo, the Party General Secretary, the PCC Secretariat, the PCC Commission on Inspection and Head of the PCC Commission on Inspection.
The 12th PCC strictly followed the election process in accordance with the Party Charter and the election regulations of the 12th National Party Congress. After discussion of democracy, the PCC reached a consensus on the number of Politburo members of 19, and elected enough 19 persons to the Politburo. They include:
- Nguyen Phu Trong, Party General Secretary
- Tran Dai Quang, General, Minister of Public Security
- Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly
- Ngo Xuan Lich, General, Chief of the General Department of Politics under the
Vietnam People's Army - To Lam, Senior Lieutenant, Deputy Minister
of Public Security - Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister
- Nguyen Thien Nhan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front
- Dinh The Huynh, Head of the PCC Commission on Popularization and Education
- Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission
on Organization - Tong Thi Phong, Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly
- Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the PCC Commission on Economics
- Tran Quoc Vuong, Head of Office of the PCC
- Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Truong Thi Mai, Head of the National Assembly Committee
for Social Affairs - Truong Hoa Binh, Head of the Supreme People's Court
- Nguyen Van Binh, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam
- Vo Van Thuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee
- Dinh La Thang, Minister of Transport
- Hoang Trung Hai, Deputy Prime Minister
The PCC reached a high consensus to re-elect Nguyen Phu Trong, Party General Secretary term XI as Party General Secretary term XII.
The PPC assigned the Politburo to select some members to join the PCC Secretariat.
During the plenum, the PCC elected three members to the Secretariat. They are:
- Luong Cuong, Lieutenant General, Deputy Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army
- Nguyen Van Nen, Head of Office of the Government
- Nguyen Hoa Binh, Head of the Supreme People's Procuracy
The PCC elected the PCC Commission on Inspection term XII which includes 21 members. They are:
- Tran Quoc Vuong, Head of Office of the PCC
- Mai Truc
- Nguyen Duc Hai
- Sa Nhu Hoa
- Bui Thi Minh Hoai
- Nguyen Thanh Son
- Nguyen Van Nhan
- To Quang Thu
