A “Vietnam – Philippines Friendship” concert, co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Philippine Department of Tourism and Cebu Pacific Airline, will take place at 8pm on March 19th at Hanoi Opera House and on March 21st at HCM City Opera House.

The concert is organized on the occasion of the three sisters of President Aquino’s visit to Vietnam and Cebu Pacific’s opening of a direct air route between Manila and Hanoi.

It will attract famous artists from the two countries, including pianist Raul Sunico, singers Joanna Ampil and Rachelle Gerodias, violist Bui Cong Duy, singer Duc Tuan, other artists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, and also Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.

Joanna Ampil is an outstanding name in the modern musical world. She is a star of the West End theater (London, England). She has performed in several West End musicals, including Miss Saigon, Jesus Christ Superstar, Avenue Q, Les Miserables, and others.

Maria Rachelle Gerodias is a Philippine premiere soprano and one of the country’s top-notch opera performers. She has assumed lead roles in more than 20 different productions in the US, Japan and around the Asia Pacific.

Duc Tuan will solo in several Vietnamese immortal songs and sing duets with Joanna Ampil on the song All I ask of you from the play Phantom of the Opera, and with Rachelle Gerodias on the song Tonight from the play West Side Story. And they all will sing the song Impossible dream to end the program./.
