On December 24th, the inaugurating ceremony of Vietnam’s first Buddhist museum was held at Quan The Am (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) Pagoda in Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang city.

The event was attended by historian Duong Trung Quoc; Vice Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Council Nguyen Nho Trung and hundreds of Buddhist monks and nuns from Da Nang and nationwide.
Construction, which covers over 500sq.m, was started in 2015 and cost a total of VND6 billion.
The Buddhist Culture Museum showcases nearly 300 exhibits including ancient documents, statues and sculptures relating to Buddhism from the 19-20th centuries, which were gathered and collected by historians, researchers and Buddhists nationwide over 20 years.
Vietnam’s first Buddhist Culture Museum was established according to Decision No.9189 in December, 2014 of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee.
"It's been a great effort by archaeologists, experts and monks at the pagoda to build the first ever Buddhism museum in Vietnam, with an extensive collection of statues and other exhibits," said historian and Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Scientific History Association, Duong Trung Quoc.
He praised the artistic value and historical significance of the precious objects and added that many ancient Buddha statues would be donated from countries across the world for the museum
Besides, the first Buddhist Culture Museum will equip visitors with headset audio guides in Vietnamese and English, ensuring that visitors can receive information about each precious object./.
