Appreciating Vietnam's preparations in ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020, Australian Defense Minister Linda Reynolds believed that Vietnam Ministry of Defense will chair the successful organization of ASEAN defense conferences and activities 2020.

In the afternoon of February 18th, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Vice Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence received Senator Linda Reynolds, Australian Defense Minister.

At the meeting, the two Ministers appreciated the recent developments in bilateral relations. Over the past time, Vietnam - Australia defense cooperation has continued to be effectively implemented in the spirit of the signed documents and agreements.

The Australian Minister appreciated Vietnam's Defense Ministry for organizing an Informal Meeting between ASEAN-Australia Defense Ministers, showing Vietnam's support for Australia's strengthening cooperation with ASEAN in the national field.

The Australian Defense Minister also showed his belief that Vietnam's Ministry of Defense will preside over the successful organization of other side-line activities such as the International Conference on "The role of women in UN peacekeeping operations" and the first International Defense Exhibition in Vietnam.

EVFTA set to bolster Vietnam-Poland trade ties

The recently approved EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) could act as a means of boosting trading ties between Poland and Vietnam, according to the International Business Times.

Piotr Harasimowicz, chief representative officer of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency based in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), was quoted by the news organisation as saying that Vietnam represents one of the most promising markets for Polish companies in Southeast Asia, reported VOV.

According to Mr. Harasimowicz, both countries enjoy a range of crucial fields that are ripe for co-operation, including agricultural food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, green technology, and wastewater treatment.

He emphasised that there remains plenty of room for co-operation in areas such as software, information technology, heavy industries, machinery along with equipment for agricultural production and food processing.

Vietnam’s major exports are currently electronics and equipment, footwear, textile products, along with agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, coconut, and cashew nuts.

44 cases involving close contact with COVID-19 patients in HCMC end 14 days of monitoring

A total of 44 cases of close contact with three Covid-19 infected people in HCMC has ended the 14-day of strict monitoring and showed no signs of illness, according to a report released by the disease surveillance system by the HCMC Center for Disease Control.

Moreover, over the past three days, there have been no fresh suspected cases of COVID infection detected in the city, reported VOV.

Previously, there had been three people infected with the COVID-19 in the southern city, including two Chinese nationals, a father, and his son, all of whom were cured and discharged from Cho Ray Hospital.

Most notably, a Vietnamese American who is currently being treated at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases had tested negative for the COVID-19 on February 17 and is now eligible to be discharged./.
