Work on VND5 trillion solar power plant starts in Ninh Thuan

Trung Nam Solar Power JSC, a member of Trung Nam Group, on July 7th kicked off construction of a VND5 trillion (USD216.5 million) solar power plant in Thuan Bac district, the south-central coastal province of Ninh Thuan.

According to Nguyen Tam Thinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trung Nam Solar Power, the 204 MW plant will cover nearly 300 hectares of the Trung Nam wind farm in Bac Phong and Loi Hai communes.

Regarded as the first integrated renewable energy project in Vietnam, the plant is scheduled to be completed in June 2019.

It is expected to produce between 401 and 450 million kWh of electricity per year, supplying more electricity for Ninh Thuan province in particular and the country in general.

At the ground breaking ceremony, Trung Nam Solar Power signed a design consultation contract with Vietcode-Apeco joint venture and a supervision consultation contract with Apeco-Nam An joint venture. Other important equipment supply contracts were also inked during the event.

Earlier on July 3rd, the Electric Power Trading Company (EPTC) of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) signed a power purchase agreement with the Trung Nam Solar Power JSC.

Under the agreement, EPTC will purchase electricity from Trung Nam at a price of VND2,086 (9.35 cents) per kWh./.
