President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions to develop and deepen the multifaceted relations and many fields of Vietnam with countries and organizations in the world; improve the spirit of national pride; and help gather, strengthen and develop the overseas Vietnamese community are being honoured.

This is the statement of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung at a 10-year summation meeting of implementation of honouring President Ho Chi Minh, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on February 25th.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said that over the past 10 years, the honouring of Uncle Ho has achieved many positive results and has been implemented by Vietnam's overseas representative offices on five continents.

The Vietnam's overseas representative offices have also attached plaques for sites where Uncle Ho lived, studied, worked or traveled in Singapore, the UK, Slovakia, India and France.

So far, 22 nations on the world have had 29 statues and monument works. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also built and repaired monuments, museums where President Ho Chi Minh used to live. There are 11 memorial sites named Uncle Ho in foreign countries, including eight works in China, Laos and Thailand, and three works in France, Russia and Germany.

In addition, the publication of books and movies about President Ho Chi Minh have been also carried out, including nearly 40 books of foreign authors introducing Uncle Ho's biography, his will and his career.

Honouring President Ho Chi Minh is to promote his ideological, moral and personality values as well as honour the country and people of Vietnam in the international arena. The image of Uncle Ho has contributed to promoting international friends' understanding about the history and culture of Vietnam./.
