Speaking at the event, Ms Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Head of 8th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council, expressed her thankfulness to local voters who have fulfilled their citizen’s obligation and right via voting cards. She committed to practice professional skills and quality as a people’s representative, thus contribute to enhance the comprehensive operations of the 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council.
Participants of the first meeting should focus on the missions: Report of the City Election Committee on the results of the voting and status of members of 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council (2016-2021 term), electing key positions following the 2015 Law on Government Organization.
On behalf of the Standing board of the 8th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council, Ms Truong Thi Anh, Vice Head of Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council, delivered a report on the result of the election for the 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council, with the participation of 99.36% legal voters. 105 members were voted from 175 candidates to the 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council (2016-2021 term) from 35 electing units. A Resolution of the City Election Committee has been approved, confirming the status of the 105 winning candidates.
The 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council introduced Ms Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Head of 8th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council, to vote for the position of Head of 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council. In the final, 101/103 present members voted for Ms Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, accounting for 96.06% in favour.
The 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council also agreed to issue a Resolution to recognize the title Head of the 9th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council (2016-2021 term) for Ms Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam.
Ms Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, was born in 1958 in Tay Ninh province. She is a NA Deputy for the terms of 2011-2016 and 2016-2021, holding a Bachelor Degree on Credit and Finance, a Bachelor Degree on Administration, a Bachelor Degree on Party’s History, and has undergone senior training in political issues./.
