The event was organized by the Vietnamese Student Association in RoK (VSAK) under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnam’s Office of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology in RoK.

This is one of the events to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Korea diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of  VSAK.

At the opening ceremony, Chairman of VSAK Pham Hai Chien stressed that ACVYS 2017 was a meeting point for Vietnamese and foreign young scientists to present the latest research results, as well as share their passion, experience in scientific research and practical applications in areas of biotechnology, mechanical engineering, construction and environmental engineering, information and communication technology, materials science, storage and energy conversion.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Vietnamese Ambassador to RoK Tran Anh Vu said that with more than 15,000 people, Vietnamese students are in second place in the number of foreign students in RoK.

The knowledge and skills they acquire while studying in RoK will greatly contribute to Vietnam’s economic development and modernization.

According to Mr. Tran Anh Vu, this was a significant event to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations.

Head of Vietnam’s Office of Science and Technology in RoK Ngo Van Mo thanked universities, research institutes and professors of RoK for having trained generations of scientists for Vietnam, contributing to the development of science and technology in particular and socio-economic development in general of Vietnam.

He emphasized that Vietnam is creating the best conditions for the development of science and technology and desired that Vietnamese students follow the example of their predecessors to soon make positive contributions to the science, technology and socio-economic development of Vietnam.

The conference included many themes about the latest research of young scientists with high practical applications, such as the theme about "Industrial Revolution 4.0"; the Vietnamese-Korean automatic translation system work "Utagger" with more than 200,000 data warehouses belong to many topics; and the theme about energy conversion relating to use of methane gas to cause greenhouse effects.

Within the framework of ACVYS 2017, there was a discussion on the East Sea with presentations on Vietnam’s sea and islands to raise awareness of the sovereignty over the sea and islands, positively contributing to the cause of protection of the inviolable sovereignty of the nation for the younger generation.

ACVYS-2017 attracted the participation of about 300 Vietnamese and foreign students, professors from universities all over RoK, with nearly 100 research works presented and discussed.

With careful and professional preparation, the conference has become a successful event of VSAK in RoK and is a bridge between Vietnamese students studying and researching in RoK and Korean experts, scientists and managers in collaboration in research and implementation of projects, thereby actively contributing to promoting the scientific and technological cooperation between Vietnam and RoK./.
