(CPV) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece has recently worked with the Alkyonis Cinema in Greece’s capital Athens to screen the film “Viet Kostas” by Greek director Tritsimpidas, for an audience of over 200 Greek people, international friends, representatives from diplomatic agencies and members of the Vietnamese community in Athens.

The film explores the life of Mr. Nguyen Van Lap, whose Greek name is Kostas Sarantidis, from the time he was a legionnaire soldier in the French expeditionary force to the time he joined the Viet Minh army, spent 9 years participating in the resistance war against the French colonists and over 10 years constructing socialism in northern Vietnam. He was admitted to the Dong Duong (Indochina) Communist Party in 1950 in a battalion in Phu Yen province.

To recognise his great contribution to the Vietnamese army and country, the Vietnamese State and army has awarded him a number of noble orders and titles, including the first class feat-of-arms order and the title of hero of the people's armed forces.

Since 1965, although he has returned to live in Greece with his family, he has kept up with events in Vietnam, which he considers his second homeland.

The film showed Mr. Lap’s lofty international spirit as well as the just and brave struggle by the Vietnamese army and people.

After the film, many audience members who admire Kostas Sarantidis Nguyen Van Lap took photographs with him and expressed their love and respect for him./.
