(CPV) - The Vietnam Military-run Industry Telecommunications Group (Viettel) on February 8th said that it ready to serve increased demand (2G, 3G, and 4G services) from subscribers during the upcoming traditional lunar new year 2018.

As a large number of customers would move from big cities to the SouthWestern region, Central region and Northern delta, therefore, demand would be doubled or tripled. The operator will increase capacity on its networks, expand coverage areas and increase the number of base transceiver stations (BTS) and mobile broadcast vehicles.

Throughout the nation, as many as 125 festive events will attract over 10,000 people at the same time, as well as the return of dazzling, spectacular firework displays at nearly 300 locations, set “high pressure” for not only Viettel but also other operators.

For festival venues or places of amusement, hosting sites, high buildings, festive events and crowded areas, some hundreds of mobile command vehicles and broadcast trucks (each equivalent to 4 BTSs, including 2G, 3G and 4G) are ready to deploy for emergency cases.

Especially, it has operated additional 1,000 BTS 4G to reach over 37,000 BTS so far, reaching all corners of the nation. Customers now enjoy a better data services like surfing Facebook, live-streaming or photo sharing (7-10 times faster than 3G with mobile data transferring technology with a maximum speed of up to 1-1.5 Gb/s).

To prevent the usual network logjam, a source from Viettel Networks Corporation said it has prepared a detailed and comprehensive action plan for this upcoming event, with thousands of technical staff available for 24 hour supervising and controlling, through a 3-layer-mechanism from province/city to region and its Headquarters.

Apart from supplying essential conditions, power sources, air conditioners, electric generators, stations and other information and technology systems, it also adds 220 wireless routers at festival points, stations and airports./.
