Bui Vien pedestrian street to be completed on August 19th

(CPV) - According to Mr Tran The Thuan, Head of District 1 People’s Committee, 90% of the Bui Vien pedestrian street project in the District has been finished. It should operate this August 19th.

So far, local citizens strongly support this project by creating favorable conditions for sub-contractors.

Earlier, between 19h00 to 02h00 of the next day (beginning from July 15th), the District 1 administration banned vehicles on the street. Preliminary statistics showed that total revenue from business increased, even by 50% above normal.

As many as 1,000 people are living along two blocks and 20 alleys. They will likely significantly change their daily living habits once the pedestrian street project is complete. District 1 is set to provide special decals for local citizen’s vehicles, thus allowing them to move in the area.

Bui Vien street is a popular gathering area for foreign visitors to have fun and meals, with many budget hotels and tourism shops.  

While traveling the street, visitors will enjoy for "Four Free": Wifi, information services, public toilets and smiles.

Vietnamese traditional and international music will be performed every Saturday and Sunday.

The 1,400m-long street sidewalk is being paved with granite stone and decorated with light posts. The two entrances of the street will have a stylized palm-leaf conical hat design.

The city Department of Tourism and District 1 People’s Committee have also provided training about community tourism for residents living on the street./.
