Southern province honours outstanding followers of Uncle Ho’s example

The Soc Trang provincial Border Guard awarded certificates of merit to 12 collectives and 13 individuals who had made excellent achievements in the sector’s emulation campaign and the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style in the 2014-2019 period, during a ceremony held on June 13th.

According to the provincial Border Guard Party Committee, over the past 5 years, the soldiers have actively joined different programs, including those on building new style rural areas, supporting children in going to school, healthcare, mass mobilization, poverty reduction and charitable activities.
Since 2014, the border guard forces have contributed to successfully rescue 65 fisheries vessels with 422 boatmen; realized 9 poverty reduction projects worth over VND3 billion benefiting 217 poor families; and built over 500 houses for poor people with a capital of over VND22 billion.
In particular, the provincial border guard, in collaboration with local healthcare sector, has mobilized over VND650 million to give free medical check-ups and medicine to over 1,700 poor border residents; successfully realized 5 large crime cases, prosecuting 42 criminals, seizing over 140 kilograms of fresh marijuana and over 7,000 packages of tobacco; and fining 630 people along with seizing over VND1.8 billion and nearly 300,000 liters of non-original oil./.
