Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang on March 18th was re-elected for his second five-year term by the National People’s Congress (NPC).

Mr Li, 63, was re-appointed with 2,964 votes in favour and two against during the annual session of the National People’s Congress at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, one day after Mr Xi Jinping was re-elected as President for another five years until 2023.
“Newly-elected Chinese President Xi Jinping signed his first presidential decree to appoint Li Keqiang as premier Sunday morning during the ongoing session of China's national legislature,” state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Li Keqiang, who became premier in 2013, heads the State Council, China's Cabinet. He was named the World's 12th Most Powerful Person by the Forbes in 2015 and 2016.
At the congress, Zhou Qiang was re-elected as the President of the Supreme People's Court. The NPC approved the appointment of Zhang Jun as procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, replacing Cao Jianming.
Mr. Yang Xiaodu was also appointed as director of the National Supervisory Commission, a newly formed anti-corruption body with statutory powers.
Mr. Xu Qiliang and Zhang Youxia were elected as Vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission (CMC) headed by President Xi Jinping./.
