As reported by Indonesia’s national news agency Antara, the director general of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ public information and diplomacy, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, unveiled the information at an online media briefing on August 15.

She informed that the cooperation strengthening is a part of the government's efforts to realise the commitment to supporting the achievement of global development goals, especially in developing countries.

According to Mauludiah, Indonesia's commitment is based on the spirit of the Asian-African Conference and a real manifestation of its leadership of the non-aligned movement.

"Indonesia has been consistent and has played an active role in implementing South-South Cooperation and giving grants," she said as quoted by Antara.

In the last two decades, Indonesia has organised at least one thousand South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) programmes, she added.

Those SSTC programmes were not only carried out for countries in Africa but also those in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean, as well as Eastern Europe and Europe. Sectors involved are also very broad, covering agriculture, maritime, fisheries, energy, democracy, good governance, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), entrepreneurship, infrastructure, disaster risk management, and women's empowerment./.
