The event was a practical activity to mark the 71st anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 26th anniversary of the All People's Defence Day (December 22nd).

The exhibition showcased more than 100 valued photos, maps, documents, artefacts and chau ban (official administrative papers) from kings of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos.

It highlights the potential of Vietnamese marine resources in social and economic development, as well as the achievements of the army and people in the fields of politics, economics, culture, society, security and national defence.

Besides, photos also featured the naval soldiers who protect the nation’s sea and islands, as well as depicting the strong patriotism of Vietnamese people.

When President Ho Chi Minh was still alive, he showed the values and potential of Vietnam’s sea and islands. He always took interest in Vietnamese naval soldiers, so the role of the sea is often considered by the leaders of Party and State.

The cause of protecting the nation’s sovereignty over sea and island territory, as well as the potential of the seas and islands’ for the country’s economic development, are targets which all the Party and people work towards.

The event will run until December 25th./.
