The five-day event is to highlight the quintessence of Vietnamese gastronomy and preserve the best of Hanoi’s culture as well as promote Vietnam to the world. A special focus is on traditional Hanoian food with about 300 dishes.
There are three sections, featuring the cuisine of three regions in Vietnam.
Monica from Australia said that she has been working in Vietnam for two years and she liked Vietnamese food very much. Coming to the festival, she tried many delicious dishes here.
In addition, about 60 foreign dishes will be prepared at the event by 12 groups from countries such as Thailand, Belgium, Russia, France and China.
The festival is held as a part of Hanoi’s millennial celebrations and National Tourism Year 2010.
Tens of thousands of tourists had the chance to taste different dishes at the opening ceremony. The event is expected to draw the participation of 20,000 people per day.
