The International Silk - Brocade Festival 2017 has opened at the silk village, Hoi An ancient city, central province of Quang Nam, as part of the sixth Quang Nam Heritage Festival.
Taking place from June 12th to 13th, the festival drew the participation of the World Silk Association; Asia Silk Association; Silk Associations of nine countries including China, Japan, India, Thailand, Italy, France, Spain, Myanmar and Vietnam; and 12 traditional villages in Vietnam, such as Nha Xa, Van Phuc and Nam Cao silk villages in the northern delta, a brocade craft village in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, Khmer ethnic people in the southern province of An Giang, and Cham People in the central province of Ninh Thuan.

Diverse activities such as an introduction of traditional silk weaving techniques, exhibition on products of silk villages, seminar on silk in modern life, and collections by local and foreign designers, including famous designer Minh Hanh, were held during the festival.
The festival aimed to honor artisans, traditional craft villages and famous silk and brocade making sites at home and abroad; and promote Hoi An heritage and tailoring services, and the “Silk craft and sewing centre” model, to international visitors and silk producers around the world./.
