Watching the golden season on Mu Cang Chai highland
Sunday, 23/09/2018 15:25 (GMT+7)
As a highland district of the northern mountainous Yen Bai province, Mu Cang Chai attracts visitors with mountain ranges and picturesque terraced fields.
From the end of September to the mid-October, the rice on terraced fields turns yellow; it is the best time of the year to visit.
The terraced rice fields have been established for many generations due to the cultivation practices of the Mong ethnic people. With the steep terrain, it is difficult to grow rice on a shifting cultivation basis. Local people choose low hills with a large sloping area to grow rice to take full advantage of water from the mountain. The rice cultivation of the Mong people on terraced fields has become part of the unique culture there.
