Mai Trung Thu, also known as Mai Thu, who lived from 1906 to 1980, is a famous painter in Vietnamese contemporary art especially during the early 20th century.
April this year saw his painting Portrait de Mademoiselle Phuong (Portrait of Madame Phuong) fetch a record price of 3.1 million USD at Sotheby's Hong Kong Auction, thereby representing the highest price ever paid for a piece of Vietnamese artwork.
The event will be held with support from the artist’s daughter Mai Lan Phuong in partnership with the Cernuschi Museum./.
