Bach Mai is a special-class hospital of the Ministry of Health, and is also a unit included in the Government's Project 06 to deploy comprehensive digital transformation in the health sector. The deployment of the electronic medical records system at Bach Mai Hospital is not only an important step in digital transformation in the health sector but also contributes to improving the quality of health care services for the people.

Bach Mai Hospital currently has 57 units with a scale of 3,600 beds and more than 4,000 medical staff and employees. Every day, the hospital receives 7,000 - 10,000 outpatients and about 4,000 inpatients.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, digital transformation is a key trend, an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority for rapid and sustainable development. Resolution 52-NQ/TW of the Politburo has emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the digital transformation process.

The Government's national digital transformation program to 2025, with a vision to 2030, is implemented in the direction of comprehensive digital transformation with the participation of people, the business community and state administrative agencies.

"Implementing the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Health and other ministries and branches, realizing the important role and tasks in healthcare, the hospital pays special attention to the issue of digital transformation in the professional field as well as administrative procedures. The Party Committee and the Board of Directors have issued many Resolutions and Decisions directing and approving digital transformation tasks for the period 2024 - 2025 and orientation to 2030," said the leader of Bach Mai Hospital.

The implementation of electronic medical records helps save time for patients. Patients can register for an appointment by phone or mobile application, reducing waiting time at the hospital.

The hospital manages information more effectively, because patient information will be stored and managed synchronously. This also helps doctors easily access and track medical examination and treatment history.

By July 1, 2024, Bach Mai was one of the central hospitals that successfully connected data to the Social Insurance Portal according to Decision 4750/QD-BYT. This is an important boost for the hospital to deploy electronic medical records.

Starting in mid-July, the hospital piloted electronic medical records at six units. On October 11, electronic medical records were deployed throughout the entire hospital. On October 25, the hospital successfully assessed electronic medical records at the basic level.

From November 1, the electronic medical records system at Bach Mai Hospital officially came into operation. In the coming time, the hospital will continue to complete electronic medical records at a specialized and advanced level.

To meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people, Bach Mai Hospital has converted its medical examination and treatment software, gradually completing electronic medical records.

The transition to electronic medical records will help all information about the patient's health status, medical history and treatment process to be stored and managed online. This not only improves management efficiency, but also helps doctors and medical staff to access information quickly, minimizing errors in the diagnosis and treatment process.

Electronic medical records will bring many practical benefits to patients as well as medical examination and treatment management.

Implementing electronic medical records also contributes to improving transparency and efficiency in managing health insurance medical examination and treatment costs, minimizing administrative procedures and shortening the time to process records.
