Exhibition on Quan ho folk singing opens

On September 9, the northern Bac Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to open an exhibition on Quan ho folk singing at the provincial museum.

The event aims to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk singing being recognized by UNESCO as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (September 2009 - September 2024).

Deputy Director of Bac Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Dap said that Bac Ninh Quan ho folk singing is a unique and distinctive form of folk art and culture of the Bac Ninh people, created in the historical process of the nation. Quan Ho is not only the richest in melodies and lyrics, pure and delicate, rich in lyricism, but also accompanied by rituals, customs      and practices of pure and beautiful customs; reflecting the cultural quintessence of the homeland Kinh Bac - Bac Ninh. Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk si     nging not only converges and crystallizes the thinking, talent, soul, art of literature, poetry, music, painting and the polite, delicate, loyal      and affectionate personality of Kinh Bac - Bac Ninh people in history, but also converges the humanity of the Vietnamese people and humanity.

With its great value in many aspects, on September 30, 2009 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing was announced by the Intergovernmental Committee of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

With more than 200 typical images, documents and artifacts selected from the provincial museum's warehouse and related organizations, individuals, agencies      and localities, the exhibition introduces to visitors and people inside and outside the province information and deep understanding of the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk singing and join hands to preserve and promote the value of the heritage of humanity.

The exhibition is arranged with three main themes: Origin and development process of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing; The longevity and spread of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing - introducing the vitality of the heritage in the community; and Preserving and promoting the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing - introducing the mechanisms and policies of the Party, the State, and the province, along with the cooperation of the community in the cause of preserving and promoting the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing today.

Within the framework of the opening of the exhibition, exchange activities between the original Quan Ho villages and the practicing Quan Ho villages were held.

The exhibition will run until the end of November 2024./.
