Thua Thien – Hue province approves project to promote brand of Ao Dai

The central Thua Thien – Hue Provincial People’s Committee has approved the outline of the project entitled “Hue – The capital of Ao Dai” to affirm the value and position of Hue’s Ao Dai in the culture of the ancient capital and the country.

The project aims to honour the cultural beauty of Ao Dai in Hue as well as praise the founders and developers of the Ao dai in the history of national formation and development.
It also aims at preserving and effectively promoting the value of Ao Dai heritage, towards to developing a dossier to submit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for recognition as an intangible cultural heritage.
The provincial People’s Committee assigned the cultural sector to coordinate with relevant agencies to enhance studies, orient solutions, and organise cultural and arts events and community-based programmes to build the brand of “Hue – The capital of Ao Dai”.
The project has set out many specific goals such as the encouragement of gradually developing Hue’s Ao Dai into a traditional dress for cultural exchanges, ritual activities, and traditional festivals; and the organisation of Hue Ao Dai Festival as a biennial series of community cultural events.
In addition, the project focuses on training and developing artisans and tailors specialising in Ao Dai as well as the investment in infrastructure to form spaces for displaying Ao Dai and tailor shops to serve tourists.
In order to preserve and preserve the identity of the traditional Ao Dai, over the years, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with many ministries, branches and localities to organize many programs, events and activities to enhance the quality of life, raise the awareness and responsibility of the people of all walks of life in preserving and promoting the value of the traditional Ao Dai as well as proposing appropriate management and protection solutions to ensure the vitality of the heritage./.
