Vietnamese Embassy in Japan takes citizen protection measures as typhoon approaches
Citizen protection measures have been conducted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan as Typhoon Hagibis hit the country on October 12th causing great losses in humans and property.

According to the embassy, no information about any human loss regarding the overseas Vietnamese community in the country was reported as of 8pm on October 13th.
Regarding two Vietnamese sailors on board the Panama-flagged cargo ship which sank late October 12th in Tokyo Bay off Japan where it was anchored as Typhoon Hagibis, one of them was found and rescued together with three other sailors in the morning of October 13th. The man, named Pham Van Duc, is now receiving treatment at a hospital in Yokohama. He is reportedly recovering positively.
The other Vietnamese, named Nguyen Van Tri, and six other sailors remain missing.
According to Kyodo News, typhoon Hagibis hit Tokyo and other areas in central, eastern and northeastern regions of Japan on October 12th. It caused record rainfall, flooding huge swaths of residential districts and leaving at least 33 dead and nearly 20 others unaccounted. Rescue efforts are continuing./.
Vietnam named Asia’s leading culinary destination
Vietnam was chosen as “Asia’s Leading Culinary Destination” by the latest World Travel Awards, which reaffirms the growing international reputation of Vietnamese cuisine.

It is the first time Vietnam has achieved this honour although Vietnamese cuisine has already given considerable praise from international tourists and got good reviews from prestigious travel magazines.
According to the founder of the World Travel Awards (WTA) Graham Cooke, the award of Vietnam as Asia's leading culinary destination reaffirms its culinary fame on the global tourism map and introduces diversity in indigenous cuisine styles to more international tourists.
He added that Vietnamese cuisine has crossed the national border and has become one of "must-try" experiences.
Vietnam won three other prizes at the WTA awards ceremony for Asia and Oceania held on October 12th on Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island off the coast of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
This year, Vietnam was also given awards of "Asia’s Leading Destination" and "Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination" while the ancient town of Hoi An was named "Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination"./.
Vietnamese students win big at IYIA 2019 in Indonesia
Vietnamese students won two gold medals and one silver medal at the International Young Investors Awards (IYIA) 2019 held in Indonesia from October 9th to 12th.

An invention “Magnetic braking system for elevators” by Nguyen Van Khanh, Nguyen Bao Long and Dang Vo Quang Huy from Hanoi’s Trung Vuong High School won the gold medal, the best innovation award from the organizing board, and a special prize from the innovation association of Korean universities.
Another gold medal was given to a smart camera system for early fire warning invented by Hoang Huyen Anh from Hanoi’s Chu Van An High School, Le Thuy Linh from Hanoi’s Amsterdam High School, and Nguyen Luong Bang from Hanoi’s Trung Vuong High School.
An automatic directing system for solar water heaters by Nguyen Ha My from Hanoi’s Chu Van An High School, Do Bao Nhi from Hanoi’s Thang Long High School, and Nguyen Gia Thinh (from Hanoi’s Viet Duc High School) was presented the silver medal./.
Three more kinds of Vietnamese seafood exported to China
The General Administration of Customs of China has agreed to allow three more kinds of Vietnamese seafood to be imported into the country.

The information was announced by the Asian-African Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade
According to the Chinese side, three more kinds of Vietnamese seafood include white clams, spotted clams and oysters, which have been assessed by China through fisheries control systems.
The Chinese side said these products are naturally exploited, managed and certified by the Vietnamese side with a similar process.
The country also suggested that Vietnam should conduct quarantine tests and issue certificates in the form agreed by the two parties so that Vietnam’s seafood products can be exported to China smoothly./.
