Vietnamese firm to export electric motorbikes to Cuba

Vietnamese electric motorbike manufacturer PEGA has recently signed contracts with a value of nearly USD3 million to export two types of electric motorbikes to Cuba after its partner in the Caribbean nation had successfully tested and assessed the products’ overall quality.

The first contract includes an order of 1,260 PEGA XMEN electric motorbikes with a value of roughly VND20 billion (USD862,000). The order is currently being completed with efforts made to prepare to transport the products to Cuba.

The second stipulates the shipment of more than 2,500 PEGA XMEN and PEGA AURA electric motorbikes, worth over 40 billion VND, with the shipment scheduled for August.

PEGA XMEN and PEGA AURA are two popular types of electric motorbikes with their engines having a capacity of 1,200W. Each electric motorbike can carry up to three people and has the ability to climb slopes with no difficulty.

Upon discussing the deal, PEGA Vietnam said that their Cuban partners expressed a desire to exclusively distribute PEGA electric motorbikes with a minimum of 20,000 units per year.

British pilot declared virus free

The British pilot, the most critically ill coronavirus case in Vietnam, and another Vietnamese resident were confirmed to have fully recovered from the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The 43-year-old British citizen is also the last foreign patient in Vietnam who has gone on to make a full recovery from the disease. Forty-nine other foreigners had either returned to their homes in Vietnam or to their home countries.

According to doctors, the British patient, dubbed patient 91, is able to leave Ho Chi Minh city-based Cho Ray hospital where he has been receiving treatment without being quarantined.

However, the patient was advised to stay at the hospital for further functional rehabilitation exercises before he leaves for the UK, scheduled for July 12th.

At a national consultation on July 3rd, leading Vietnamese health specialists agreed that the British citizen has met conditions for a long flight from Vietnam to the UK. He will be accompanied by a group of experienced Vietnamese doctors on the way back to the UK.

The patient has so far experienced a total of 110 days of treatment at HCM city’s Hospital of Tropical Diseases and Cho Ray hospital.

With the two patients confirmed virus free on July 6th, as many as 341 out of 369 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam have fully recovered from the disease. No deaths have been reported.

Sa Pa and Ninh Binh listed among up-and-coming destinations in Asia

Vietnam’s Sa Pa town in Lao Cai province and Ninh Binh province have been listed among 14 up-and-coming destinations in Asia, according to the US-based travel site TripstoDiscover.

According to the site, Sa Pa is one of the best places to visit in Vietnam.

It is surrounded by dramatic beauty with its world-famous terraced paddy fields.

“It sits high up in the Hoang Lien Son Mountains and makes a great base for trekking or mountain biking tours with routes that will bring you past magnificent waterfalls, through rice paddies, and around charming mountain villages which are home to families known for making fantastic local handicrafts”, the site writes.

It also suggested that when visitors travel to the villages, they can see how the traditional weavings and carvings are made and purchase some as gifts or souvenirs.

In addition, the site also praised Ninh Binh, which is located in southeast of Hanoi, as being incredibly picturesque, yet it remains far less popular than its sister to the northeast, Ha Long Bay.

It possesses hundreds of limestone monoliths topped by vibrant greenery that rise from the ground scattered throughout the city with rivers flowing through.

TripstoDiscover suggested some activities in Ninh Binh such as visiting caves in the limestone mountains beautiful pagodas, including Bai Dinh and Bich Dong in the Trang An landscape complex.

Ninh Binh was once chosen to be the setting for the Hollywood movie “Kong: Skull Island”. The film has contributed to helping Ninh Binh become a new destination for many international visitors.
