The station launch had been delayed many times due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The station at 501 Hoang Huu Nam Street in district 9 covers 12.3 ha in district 9 and 3.7ha in Di An town in the southern province of Binh Duong.
The Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO), the station’s operator, said the new station is nearly three times as big as the old one in Binh Thanh district.
It can serve about 21,000 passengers per day with 1,200 buses, and during peak times, 52,000 passengers and over 1,800 buses.
More than seven million passengers each year are expected to travel on 71 long-haul routes from the city to eastern provinces and localities in the central region and northern Vietnam.
Construction of the new facility began in 2017, with a total cost of more than 4 trillion VND (172.6 million USD).
The new station has four floors and two underground basement floors, with waiting areas, pickup and drop-off areas, transit and cargo trade areas, logistics services, parking areas and a wastewater treatment station.
It is a multi-functional complex with a commercial centre, entertainment area, restaurants and other service areas.
Five Vietnamese resorts named among Top 30 in Asia
Five Vietnamese resorts, including The Anam, Banyan Tree Lang Co, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa, Salinda Resort, and Angsana Lang Co, have been listed among the Top 30 resorts throughout Asia, as announced by travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reports.

Five Vietnamese resorts have been honoured in the Readers' Choice Awards 2020 which are voted for by readers of travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler. Topping the list is COMO Uma Punakha in Bhutan.
In total, five resorts from the nation are featured in the list, including The Anam in fourth position, Banyan Tree Lang Co, in ninth position, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in 24th, Salinda Resort in 29th, and Angsana Lang Co rounding off the list in 30th position.
Located in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, The Anam in Nha Trang is fourth in the list. The site features 117 villas which are all surrounded by peaceful gardens and pristine beaches.
Banyan Tree Lang Co can be found in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and features at ninth place in the list. It has a total of 62 villas and provides entertainment activities such as golf, a spa, and yoga.
JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa on Phu Quoc Island also makes the list in 24th position.
The other place to make the list from Phu Quoc island is Salinda Resort, which comes in at 29th in the list of the leading Asian resorts.
Angsana Lang Co is in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and ranks at 30th in the list. Visitors can enjoy activities such as playing golf, windsurfing, kayaking, or visiting the local spa.
Book about armed forces wins first prize at National Book Awards
Doan Binh Tay Tien (Advancing Westward Regiment) by poet Quang Dung was among three books that have won first prizes at the National Book Awards 2020, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Doan Binh Tay Tien was written in 1952 and published for the first time by Kim Dong Publishing House in 2019. It has just 124 pages but provides a detailed account of the early days of the establishment of a regiment of the Vietnam People's Army called Tay Tien during its westward advance in the resistance war against the French.
The jury lauded the book for its authentic literary and historical education values.
The two other books that won first prizes were Lich su (Histories) by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, translated from English by Le Dinh Chi, and another about medical treatment titled Hinh anh lam sang, Chan doan va Dieu tri trong Chuyen nganh Da lieu (Clinical Image, Diagnosis and Treatment in Dermatology) by different authors led by Dr Nguyen Van Thuong.
Second prizes went come to 10 works featuring issues of different areas including politics, environment, information technology and culture.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the National Book Awards were expected to contribute to promoting reading culture.
He said that books are the "greatest schools" of society.
The annual National Book Awards were hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications and organised by the Vietnam Publishers’ Association and the National Book Prize Council.
The awards aim to honour writers, translators, scientists and publishers nationwide as well as discover, preserve and promote books that are valuable to readers./.
