Ha Long welcomes nearly 3,400 European, American tourists on two cruise ships

Nearly 3,400 European and American tourists on two luxury super ships are visiting Ha Long Bay and other tourist attractions in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam on November 13 – 14, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The Malta-flagged cruise ship Celebrity Solstice docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port on November 13, bringing nearly 2,700 European and American tourists to the locality.

They spent time exploring a number of tourist attractions in the city, including the Quang Ninh Museum, before making a city tour to experience local culture and cuisine.

Celebrity Solstice is expected to depart Ha Long Bay on the afternoon of November 14 before returning to Hong Kong (China). From now until the end of the year, the cruise ship is set to return to Ha Long an additional four times.

Meanwhile, another Marshall Islands-flagged cruise ship will also dock at the Ha Long International Cruise Port on the morning of November 14, carrying 700 passengers onboard from both Europe and the United States.

The ship is expected to visit other provinces and cities in Vietnam, before moving on to Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore.

According to the management board of the UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, as many as 16 cruise ships have registered to dock at the Ha Long International Cruise Port ahead in the remaining two months of the year.

Vietnam secures third place at world bodybuilding championships

The Vietnamese bodybuilding and fitness team came in third place at the 14th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2023, which concluded in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on November 12, said Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The competition saw the Vietnamese team clinch eight gold, six silver, and four bronze medals.

On the last day of the competition, Nguyen Thi Kim Dung and Tran Thi Cam Tu claimed the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the women's classic bodybuilding for those under 1m65 in height.

India topped the team standings, while Mongolia finished second.

The World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2023 attracted the participation of over 300 athletes from 39 countries and territories from across the globe.

Vietnam sent 22 athletes to compete in 26 out of 51 categories.

Petrol prices down in latest adjustment

Retail prices of petrol were revised down on November 13 in the latest adjustment by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

Those of RON 95-III and E5 RON 92 were cut by 390 VND and 340 VND to 23,530 VND (0.97 USD) and 22,270 VND per litre, respectively.

This is the first reduction after two increases in a row in late October and early November.

Meanwhile, the prices of diesel, kerosene and mazut were reduced to between 15,620 and 21,510 per litre or kilogram.

The ministries decided not to use the petrol and oil price stabilisation fund.

Since the beginning of this year, petrol prices have undergone 32 adjustments, with 18 up, 10 down, and four unchanged.

The price adjustment is intended to ensure that the fluctuation of petrol and gas prices in the country is in line with changes in prices in the world while encouraging the use of biofuel as well as minimising negative impact on socio-economic development, production and business activities, among others.

Gold medal haul for Vietnam at Asian Pencak Silat Championship

The Vietnamese Pencak Silat team have bagged a total of 20 medals, including eight gold, three silver, and nine bronze medals at the 7th Asian Pencak Silat Championships in Dubai, the UAE, which concluded on November 13, said Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

These medals helped Vietnam to rise to second place in the standing table.

The gold medalists included Quang Thi Thu Nghia in the women’s 75 kg, Le Thi Van Anh in the women’s 60kg, Ca Thi Minh in the women’s 80kg, Tran Thi Diep in the women’s 85kg, Nguyen Tan Sang in the men’s 80kg, Le Van Toan in the men’s +95 kg, Vu Duy Thanh in the men’s 60kg, and Le Ngoc Vu in the men’s 110 kg.

The martial artists competed in competitive fighting and artistic performances.

After the tournament, the Vietnamese Pencak Silat team is scheduled to take part in several training courses before competing at the Senior Asian Pencak Silat Championship and World Pencak Silat Championship in late December./.
