Khanh Hoa greets luxury cruise ship with 2,300 passengers

Arriving in Nha Trang at this time, the visitors took a city tour of several major tourist attractions across the locality by cyclo and learnt about Vietnamese cuisine at a local restaurant.

After discovering several of the city’s major destinations and food delicacies, the visitors then boarded the cruise ship once again later in the afternoon on the same day as they headed for Hong Kong (China).

Over the past nine months, Khanh Hoa has welcomed a total of 27 cruise ships, bringing nearly 55,000 visitors to the locality, as reported by the provincial Department of Tourism.

Last year, it served 23 cruise ships carrying over 45,000 holidaymakers.

Khanh Hoa is expected to welcome nine million visitors over the course of this year, including three million foreign arrivals, with revenue projections for the sector set to be over VND40 trillion.

Da Nang welcomes nearly 3,200 foreign cruise visitors

According to VOV, five-star cruise ship Costa Serena of Italy docked at Tien Sa port in the central city of Da Nang on October 22, carrying with it approximately 3,200 international tourists from Hong Kong (China) to the locality.

The foreign tourists visited several popular destinations throughout Da Nang, including Ba Na Hills, the Son Tra Peninsula, Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) Landscape, and Han market.

They also headed to the central province of Quang Nam, a neighbour of Da Nang, to tour around the UNESCO-recognised Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary.

Earlier on October 18, the cruise ship Costa Serena arrived at Ha Long International Cruise Port in Quang Ninh province, bringing the 3,040 travelers on board from Hong Kong (China) to Ha Long City.

According to Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, over the past nine months the central city welcomed 27 cruise ships with more than 32,000 arrivals, increasing by five ships and 14,450 arrivals compared to the same period from last year.

In 2023, the central coastal city received 22 international cruise liners with 18,000 arrivals on board. The figure will rise to 45 ships and 40,000 foreigners this year, double compared to last year.

Quang Ninh welcomes the three millionth foreign tourist of 2024

The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, home to world heritage site Ha Long Bay, has held a ceremony welcoming its three millionth foreign tourists, reported NDO.

David and Tina from the US arrived at the Ha Long International Passenger Port aboard the Viking Orion cruise ship, which travelled from China’s Hong Kong. During their two-day stay, they will visit Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Museum and many other tourist attractions.

According to the Director of the Provincial Department of Tourism, Nguyen Huyen Anh, the event marks a milestone for the locality, demonstrating its efforts to overcome Typhoon Yagi’s aftermath to host visitors with the highest quality services.

She said Quang Ninh is working to increase international arrivals, adding the province will host around 20 international cruise ships by the end of the year.

More than 60 cruise ships are expected to visit Ha Long in the 2024-2025 season, including luxury ones of such renowned brands as Viking Orion, Costa, Seven Seas, Noordam, Celebrity Solstice, and Mein Schiff.

In the first nine months of this year, Quang Ninh received 15.64 million tourists, with more than 2.59 million foreigners. It is expected to host 19 million visitors, comprising over 3.5 million foreign tourists this year, creating growth momentum for 2025 and the subsequent years.

Vietnam-HCM City tourism promoted in Singapore

According to VNAThe Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore are hosting a tourism promotion programme for Vietnam and the southern metropolis in the island nation from October 21 to 26.

The programme features a seminar introducing Vietnam-HCM City tourism and a business networking event.

Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, noted that the Vietnamese delegation includes not only travel companies but also transport and accommodation providers. Additionally, Singaporean tourism businesses have been invited to discussions and commercial exchanges as part of the event.

Participants are set to engage in a variety of activities, including meetings to explore tourism products specifically designed for the Singaporean market and discussions on opportunities for mutual growth in tourist arrivals.

Pham Thanh Giang, a representative from Vietnam Airlines, shared that the carrier currently operates 21 flights per week from Hanoi and HCM City to Singapore, with plans to increase the frequency to approximately 35 flights weekly by 2025. She expressed her hope for the swift resumption of flights connecting Singapore and Vietnam’s central coastal city of Da Nang.

Karen Tan, a representative from Singapore’s Deks Air, said she hopes the event will help establish and broaden connections beyond Singapore to companies across Asia and globally, with Vietnam as the destination.

The tourism promotion programme will also feature a booth at ITB Asia, the region’s leading travel trade show scheduled from October 23 to 25 in Singapore.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

In her opening speech on October 20, Chairwoman of the VWA in Gyeonggi Mai Thi Hong Ngoc said that the festival aims to deepen the understanding of Vietnamese and Korean cultures among the two countries' people. Through the Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) show, performances of traditional musical instruments, and folk games, the organisers wish to introduce and remind the Vietnamese community of the traditional cultural traits of their homeland, helping raise their pride and connect them with their roots.

The festival also offers an opportunity for Vietnamese people to gather, promote solidarity, and enhance their cultural and spiritual lives, she added.

Ambassador Vu Ho said the Vietnamese community in RoK is growing, and noted vital contributions of Vietnamese women to advancing the relationship between the two countries. The diplomat expressed his hope for more cultural exchange events to further strengthen people-to-people interactions.

On this occasion, the organisers presented gifts to disadvantaged children of Vietnamese-Korean families./.
