Vietnam attracted more than 4.26 billion USD in FDI, accounting for 17.2% of the total registered capital in nine months.

In September alone, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai provinces announced their development planning and conducted investment promotion activities. At those events, many projects were granted new and expanded investment certificates.

Besides, Vietnam’s FDI attraction also saw a bright spot with an improved quality of the FDI flow. According to the FIA, in the first nine months, major projects in the fields of semiconductors, energy (production of batteries, photovoltaic cells, silicon bars), production of components, electronic products, and products with high added value have received additional investment.

During the period, the total registered foreign investment capital reached more than 24.78 billion USD, up 11.6%, and realised capital reached 17.3 billion USD, up 8.9% over the same period in 2023.

Many technology corporations are showing interest in investing in Vietnam. At the Innovate Vietnam 2024, a series of leading global technology corporations, such as NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Intel, AMD, Samsung, and Meta made their presence known.

At the event, the leaders of the corporations committed to investing and supporting Vietnam in developing the fields of semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and innovation.

First Vietnamese enterprise exports passion fruit to Australia

Passion fruit is carefully selected to ensure export standards to the Australian market.

On October 19, Blue Ocean JSC, a member of Ocean Group, inaugurated its frozen fruit processing factory in Lam Ha District, Lam Dong Province and held a ceremony to export the first batch of passion fruit to the Australian market, reported Nhan Dan Online News.

Blue Ocean JSC Sales Director Phan Quoc Nam informed that with more than 1.5 tonnes of passion fruit exported to Australia, Blue Ocean JSC is the first Vietnamese enterprise to export passion fruit to this market after efforts on negotiations and close coordination between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Passion fruit has become the fifth fruit officially exported to Australia, after mango, longan, lychee and dragon fruit.

Blue Ocean JSC officially opened an agricultural product processing plant in Lam Dong Province on the same day.

With a total area of 10,000m2 and an advanced technology system, the factory can produce and supply the market with more than 10,000 tonnes of products per year.

The processed products will be agricultural products of Lam Dong Province, the Central Highlands provinces and the Mekong Delta region, such as durian, passion fruit, rambutan, mango, and dragon fruit.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee Pham S said that the province’s current agricultural production area is more than 388,000 ha, including more than 40,000 ha for growing fruit trees, with a total output of about 600,000 tonnes. However, processed products are still modest. The provincial Vice Chairman noted that the new fruit processing factory by Blue Ocean JSC opens up new opportunities for farmers and the company to form a production-processing-consumption chain.

Condé Nast Traveller announced the results of its annual Readers' Choice Awards 2024 in early October. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the global tourism industry, known for its extremely strict voting criteria.

In its 37th edition, Vietnam was honored in two categories, ranking 15th among the 20 best countries for travelers worldwide.

Phu Quoc was also unexpectedly recognized in the list of “The Top Islands in the World” for the third consecutive year, achieving a score of 95.36 points, a significant increase from last year’s 88.89 points. This score reflects global readers' satisfaction with the destination based on a wide range of criteria, including service quality, scenery, beaches, cuisine, and hospitality.

With this impressive score, Vietnam's Pearl Island ranked second among the top 10 Asian islands, up from eighth place last year, just behind Bali (Indonesia), which received a score of 95.71. Phu Quoc surpassed other famous destinations such as Koh Samui and Phuket (Thailand), as well as Langkawi and Penang (Malaysia).

Phu Quoc has transformed itself from a 'hidden gem' of Southeast Asia to a global destination in 2024, receiving numerous accolades from the world tourism community since the beginning of the year. In July 2024, the World's Best Awards by the renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure named Phu Quoc the second-best island in the world, following the Maldives.

Phu Quoc also made the list of the top 10 best islands in Asia according to DestinAsian. Meanwhile, it was rated a top beach destination of the last decade by the 'travel bible,' Lonely Planet, and praised by South Korea's largest mainstream newspaper, the Chosun Ilbo, as a destination that satisfies all five senses.

This remarkable breakthrough clearly demonstrates Phu Quoc Island's growing appeal. In addition to its stunning natural beauty, Pearl Island offers increasingly unique entertainment experiences and boasts the world's most luxurious resort infrastructure. Furthermore, it is the only place in Vietnam with a superior visa exemption policy for all tourists, allowing stays of up to 30 days./.
