Both Vietnamese tea entries, including Trà Rồng đỏ Hoàng Liên Sơn (Flying Red Dragon) and Trà Ký ức Hoàng Liên Sơn (Hoang Lien Son Memory), brought home two bronze awards.
An impressive award went to another tea, Trà Thác nước Hoàng Liên Sơn (Hoang Lien Son Waterfall) which is also from Lao Cai province.
Grown at 1500 metres above sea level amidst the clouds and mist, Lao Cai Shan Tuyet tea captures the essence of its mountainous terrain. Lao Cai Shan Tuyet tea is a true testament to the craftsmanship and dedication practiced by the H'Mong ethnic people.
Shan Tuyet tea represents the first five-star OCOP product of Lao Cai that has been exported to the United States and Europe. An awards ceremony will be held on November 4 in France, with the event helping to promote Vietnamese tea to the international market.
Earlier in the “Teas of the World” international competition, Vietnamese tea from the northern provinces of Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Son La, and Lai Chau were honoured in 2018, 2019, and 2022.
A total of two gold, four silver, three bronze, and seven impressive prizes ultimately went to Vietnamese tea.
Agoda highlights resilience of Vietnamese tourism after typhoon Yagi
Digital travel platform Agoda revealed on October 28 that traveler interest in the nation’s key northern regions have remained encouraging following the damage caused by typhoon Yagi, which made landfall on September 7, reported VOV.

According to Agoda, accommodation searches on the platform for popular destinations such as Hanoi, Sa Pa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh, the northern port city of Hai Phong, and Cat Ba Island all increased by 4% for check-ins from August to October compared to the same period from 2023, reflecting a steady interest in these locations.
“August, in the late summer generally includes school holiday family travel, and we would typically expect that period to see higher rates of travel than the October season,” says Lam Vu, country director of Agoda Vietnam.
“We are confident that visitors will gradually return to these regions as clean-up and rebuilding efforts continue,” he stressed.
There is further positive news for from other data compiled by Agoda, with increased searches about country from international visitors recorded across all three months of the season.
The travel platform revealed that July saw an annual increase of 4% in searches, while August noted a 31% on-year rise in interest in travel. September recorded an 84% on-year increase as international visitors set their sights on Christmas and New Year breaks.
“This increase in accommodation searches aligns with recent statistics from the General Statistics Office, indicating that visitor numbers for the first nine months of 2024 are 43% higher than in the same period in 2023. With the number of international visitors at 12.7 million, this already surpasses the total for all of 2023,” Agoda concluded.
Vietjet launches Nha Trang - Daegu air route
Vietjet Air has launched an air route connecting the coastal city of Nha Trang in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa and Daegu city in the Republic of Korea (RoK) with seven return flights per week, reported VOV.

A representative of the carrier said that the launch of the Nha Trang-Daegu route is an important milestone in its journey to expand its flight network to the RoK.
Since its first flight connecting Vietnam and the RoK in 2014, Vietjet has carried nearly 11 million passengers on 12 routes between the two countries, including those connect major Vietnamese cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Da Lat with leading cities in the RoK like Seoul, Busan and Daegu, making it easier for passengers to travel between the two nations.
To welcome passengers on the new route, Vietjet is offering attractive promotion programmes on its website or mobile app.
In September, Vietnam served 12.7 million foreign visitors, including 3.3 million from the RoK, making the East Asian country the largest international tourism market of Vietnam.
According to Vietjet, Daegu is one of the largest cities in the RoK, an interesting destination with a harmonious combination of modernity and traditional culture. It attracts tourists with famous festivals such as the cherry blossom festival, shopping districts, and many cultural relics like Donghwasa Temple and Daegu Yangnyeongsi Museum.
Meanwhile, Nha Trang is known as the pearl in the East Sea of Vietnam, famous for its long coastline, many resorts, and mild climate all year round. This is a destination for those who love to relax by the sea.
UNESCO official applauds Ninh Binh for heritage value promotion
According to VNA, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations Firmin Edouard Matoko on October 28 applauded the northern province of Ninh Binh for its determination, commitment and direction in preserving and promoting the value of Trang An heritage site.

Speaking at a meeting with the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Doan Minh Huan, the official who is leading a UNESCO delegation on an official visit to Vietnam from October 25-30, affirmed that UNESCO will always accompany the locality in preserving and promoting heritage values.
He voiced approval and appreciation of the province's goals, visions and development orientations, saying that Ninh Binh has the foundation to become a millennium heritage city and a creative city in the future.
He said UNESCO will connect Ninh Binh with international experts in related fields and organise forums for the province to learn from similar models in the world.
At the same time, UNESCO will consider selecting Ninh Binh to host UNESCO conferences and share the province's experiences in heritage preservation and promotion as well as in the successful coordination with UNESCO and countries in the region.
For his part, Huan assessed that the visit by the UNESCO delegation is of great significance as it takes place when Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex celebrates the 10th anniversary of its UNESCO recognition as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
Huan said that he hopes that UNESCO will organise a forum in Ninh Binh to announce a manifesto or charter on Trang An and deliver specific messages about the heritage site development model that harmoniously combines conservation and community-based tourism development, as well as the close coordination between the State, businesses and people.
The provincial official called on UNESCO to continue to support Ninh Binh's efforts to have more cultural and natural heritage sites recognised by 2035 such as Phat Diem Stone Church, Hoa Lu Great Wall, Thien Ton pagoda, or poetry engraved on Duc Thuy Son stone.
