Canadian Ambassador Deborah Paul has emphasized that she will always keep in her heart good feelings for the country and people of Vietnam, affirming that regardless of her position, she will always be a friend of Vietnam.

Promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Canada

On March 9, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son received Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Deborah Paul to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of her working term.

At the meeting, Minister Bui Thanh Son congratulated Ambassador Deborah Paul on successfully ending her term in Vietnam, recognizing and appreciating the active contribution of the ambassador and the staff of the Canadian Embassy in the efforts to promote the Vietnam - Canada comprehensive partnership with positive progress in many fields despite the rapidly changing world situation and the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to its relationship with Canada, and appreciates the practical support of the Government and people of Canada to Vietnam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed his hope that the Government of Canada will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to return to study in Canada after the pandemic.

According to Minister Bui Thanh Son, compared to the potential and strengths of each country, Vietnam and Canada still have many cooperation opportunities. The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is willing to cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada to jointly promote the comprehensive cooperation relationship to be stronger, more effective and substantive, while continuing to promote mutual high-level visits , making better use of economic cooperation opportunities through the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), promoting cooperation on climate change, digital transformation, green and sustainable growth sustainable development, human resource training and continued close cooperation on regional and international issues, aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of the comprehensive partnership.

For his part, Ambassador Deborah Paul would like to thank the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its close cooperation and support, creating conditions for the ambassador to fulfill his duties well during his term.

The Ambassador shared her great honor and pride to represent Canada in Vietnam and directly contribute to the strong development of the Vietnam - Canada comprehensive partnership over the past time.
