(CPV) - France is a pioneer in launching the initiative to implement the COVAX Facility and has strong commitments to contribute to this mechanism. The French Foreign Ministry said that France has now exceeded the set target and donated 67 million doses of vaccines to more than 45 countries through COVAX, becoming the second most contributing country after the United States.
France supports Vietnam with more than 2 million doses of vaccines through the COVAX mechanism.
On November 27-28, Vietnam received about 1.4 million more doses of Pfizer vaccine supported by the French Republic, including 400,000 doses via bilateral channels and nearly 1 million doses via the COVAX Facility, bringing the total number of vaccines that France has donated to Vietnam so far to more than 2 million doses. This is the result of the efforts of "vaccine diplomacy" and especially the official visit to France in early November of the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The support and assistance that the French Government and people give to the Government and people of Vietnam in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic is of great significance. This is also living proof of the strategic partnership between the two countries and affirms the spirit of cooperation and mutual support in disease prevention. Vietnam hopes that France will continue to support Vietnam with vaccines, cooperate in the production and transfer of vaccines and therapeutic drugs, and provide medical equipment and supplies for the prevention and control of COVID-19; jointly come up with innovative cooperation measures and directions, helping to adapt to the post-COVID-19 context early, gradually bringing socio-economic activities back to normal.
