Phnom Penh’s delegation learns experience from Ho Chi Minh city’s urban development

Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, has confirmed the good and long relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia, adding that he appreciates the capital Phnom Penh’s initiative in sending its young leaders to the Vietnamese city for studying and gaining experience in urban management and development.

He made the statement during a reception for a delegation from Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Penh, led by Mayor Khuong Sreng, on March 13th.

Secretary Nhan congratulated Cambodia for its achievements during the past years, and the Cambodian People's Party for winning a sweeping victory in the Senate (term 2018-2024) election in February.

Asserting that Ho Chi Minh city always respects and does it utmost to reinforce and promote the friendly and comprehensive cooperation relationship with Cambodian localities, including Phnom Penh, Mr. Nhan expressed his hope that Ho Chi Minh city and Phnom Penh would increase cooperation in different areas such as tourism, industry and  transport.

For his part, Mayor Khuong Sreng reviewed the history of Cambodia’s struggle for national liberation with the great assistance and pure international spirit from Vietnam.

He confirmed that Cambodian leaders’ responsibility was to educate the young generation to foster and promote the good relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as between Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh city.

According to the Phnom Penh Governor, his delegation members who are young leaders of Phnom Penh’s districts, experience, understand and are deeply grateful to Vietnam for its efforts during Cambodia’s struggle against Pol Pot genocidal regime, for national liberation.

“Phnom Penh wants to send districts’ leaders to Ho Chi Minh city to gain experience and cooperate in urban management and construction, including infrastructure and waste treatment,” he said./.
