HCM City: Retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue rises 10.3%

(CPV) - Ho Chi Minh City’s total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first eight months of the year are estimated at 765,233 billion VND, a year-on-year rise of 10.3%.

The Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office has just announced that the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in August 2024 is estimated at 105,853 billion VND, a month-on-month increase of 5.2% and a year-on-year rise of 12.1%.

In particular, retail sales of goods in the eight months of 2024 are estimated at  362,888 billion VND, a year-on-year rise of 10.3%. Of which, the two groups of goods with the highest proportion, being food, foodstuffs and household appliances, tools and equipment, had growth of 10.7% and 9.7%, respectively.

According to the authorities, in August, the city continued its focused promotion program with many incentive packages and promotions, so the retail sales of goods and services enjoyed good growth. In particular, revenue from travel services increased significantly, up to 65.8%.

Total revenue from state budget balance in the eight months is estimated at 344,826 billion VND, reaching 71.4% of the estimate and increasing by 15.3% over the same period last year. Of which, domestic revenue is estimated at  246,817 billion VND, reaching 73.9% of the estimate, accounting for 71.6% the total and increasing by 23.8% over the same period.

Regarding business establishment, from the beginning of the year to August 20, the city licensed 34,626 enterprises with registered capital of 272,867 billion VND, an increase of 6.5% in licenses and a decrease of 10.2% in capital year on year.

The industrial production index (IIP) in the city during the period increased by 6.4% year on year; in which, the production index of four key industries increased by 5.5% year on year.

Over the past eight months, the city’s consumer price index increased by 3.23%, of which ten out of eleven groups had price index increases, the highest increase belonging to the group of medicines and medical services with an increase of 7.8%, followed by the education group with 7.48%.

As of August 23, 2024, the total disbursed investment capital from the State budget was 13,924.4 billion VND, 17.6% of the capital plan for 2024./.
