A ceremony was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Youth Union to send 20 volunteer teams to help people in northern provinces overcome the consequences of the typhoon and floods.

Accordingly, 20 volunteer teams were assigned into specific tasks: four teams to receive and distribute relief goods; three teams to transport relief goods; four teams to examine, treat, distribute medicine and disseminate information about disease prevention and control for people; four teams to repair houses and schools; and five teams to support environmental sanitation to overcome the consequences of the typhoon and floods.
In addition, the HCMC Youth Union will establish working groups to coordinate volunteer teams in Bac Ha district of Lao Cai province and Chiem Hoa district of Tuyen Quang province.
Each team will include doctors, reporters, construction supervisors and artists, selected from youth unions and associations at the community level and volunteers in HCMC. They will carry out the task from September 19 to 23.
During the trip, the HCMC Youth Union will provide examination and treatment of diseases, deliver medicines and disseminate information about disease prevention and control for 2,500 people; present 1,200 gifts and necessities (each worth 2 million VND); coordinate with local construction forces to build four new houses, (each worth 100 million VND) and repair 40 other houses (each household costs 40,000,000 VND).
The HCMC Youth Union will support 300 officials and members of youth unions and associations in difficult circumstances; coordinate with local forces to do environmental sanitation to overcome the consequences of storms and floods; and support the transportation of goods, items and necessities to support people with a total assistance of more than 5.14 billion VND.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the HCMC Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, praised the volunteers participating in the program and asked them to closely connect with the Youth Unions of Tuyen Quang and Lao Cai provinces to meet the needs of the people in need of support./.
