Ho Chi Minh City: Additional VND276 billion collected to support Typhoon Yagi affected people

On October 7, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Relief Fund Committee of Ho Chi Minh City announced the donations received to support the northern provinces affected by Typhoon Yagi.

According to the agencies, as of 11:59 PM on October 6, the City’s Relief Fund Committee had received over VND276.3 billion in donations for the northern provinces impacted by the typhoon. Specifically, more than VND12.6 billion was collected in cash, nearly VND245.2 billion and USD53,287.06 were transferred via bank accounts, and over VND18.5 billion was received through treasury accounts.

Regarding distribution, the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Fund Committee stated that the city has decided to allocate VND100 billion to 13 provinces, with Cao Bang, Lao Cai and Yen Bai each receiving VND10 billion. Other provinces, including Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Phu Tho, will each receive VND7 billion. Additionally, the city has transferred VND20 billion to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In terms of goods, all supplies have been distributed to various localities, including Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang, Hai Duong and Phu Tho.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that these contributions are not only financial resources but also expressions of solidarity and support from the people during difficult times. The funds will be transparently allocated and directed toward the actual needs of the localities and residents affected by the disaster./.
